British and English Fell Medals

FRA Presentation Evening, 2017
Report by Lucy Hobbs

This weekend saw Todmorden Harriers celebrating a year of fell running success at the Fell Runners Association annual presentation. Over the course of the year, the British Fell Running Championships have taken the Toddies to races in the Mourne mountains of Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, the hills around Llanberis and the Howgills resulting in one of the most successful years for the club. A combination of good performances and great teamwork led the men’s V40 team of Jon Wright, Graeme Brown, Nick Barber, Paul Hobbs, James Riley (all pictured) and Darren Tweed to their first ever championship medal, securing a bronze in the British Championships whilst the women’s V40 team of Rebecca Patrick, Mel Blackhurt, Claire Duffield, Lucy Burnett and Kate Mansell secured the silver medal. Excellent team camaraderie and persistence also paid off for the V40 women in the English Fell Championships, which includes the iconic Wasdale fell race with Rebecca Patrick, Mel Blackhurst, Claire Duffield, Lucy Burnett, Lucy Hobbs and Kate Mansell (all pictured) taking another silver medal.
