Race The Train

The 36th edition of the ‘Race The Train’ race was held on Saturday 17th in Tywyn, Wales. With a festival feel to the town and with the sun shining, nearly 1500 runners took part in the 4 races available for all the family. Choices of races were 3.5 miles; 5.5 miles; 10K and the famous 14 mile race following the whole of the Talyllyn Railway line and back to the town. 

Graham Milnes took part in the 10k, starting towards the end of the railway line, the runners had to beat the train back to Tywyn. The train took exactly 55 mins and 68 runners out of 411 beat the train. Graham finished in a time of 1.06.22 giving him 219th position.

Once the 10k was over, the showpiece 14 mile race started from the town center. 686 runners took on the challenge to try and beat the train out and back along the whole of the train line. Only 73 runners managed to beat the train within 1 hour and 48 mins this year and unfortunately non of the Toddies who took part managed to beat it. Darren Graham ran a time of 1.52.15 finishing in 118th place; Elise Milnes finished  in 2.27.45 giving her 499th position and Joolz Graham finished in 589th place with a time of 2.43.26.
