Ten intrepid Todmorden Harriers travelled up to the Lakes District to conquer what is known as the toughest race in the British fell running calendar. The Wasdale Horseshoe fell race was selected this year as one of the long category races in the English Championships. Facing 21 miles and nearly 9000t of ascent, which includes the summits of Seatallan, Pillar, Great Gable and Sca Fell Pike, the Harriers were pleased to be met with sunny clear conditions and great visibility.

Leading the Harriers home was Andrew Worster coming in 4hrs 35 minutes and in 35th place. For the women, Gemma Ford, who has returned to great form following a long spell of injury, had a strong run coming in at 5hrs 38 and 11th female.

The female vets team came third, strengthening their pursuit for a team medal in the English championships.
