Tuesday 17th was the inaugural running of the beater clough fell race on the hills above Portsmouth, on the Yorkshire / Lancashire Border. At 6 miles in distance with over 2000ft of climbing over some classic rough South Pennine terrain, the route is set to become an instant classic. 11 Tod Harriers toed the line, which was instantly steep right from the off. Danny Aspinall continued his fine run of form by taking 4th in 65:41, just missing out on 4th in a tough battle throughout against Wharfedale’s Ethan Hassell. First Woman back for Todmorden was Annie Hassell in 21st overall in 78:18. The race was won overall by the evergreen Karl Gray of Calder Valley in 61:19 and Briony Holt of Clayton Le Moors who was 12th Overall in a time of 71:22.
