As part of the club’s Grand Prix, the Todmorden Harriers were out in force on Saturday for the Blackshaw Head Fete Fell Race, to take on local rivals Calder Valley Fell Runners. Both Clubs had the fast and furious 5.5m fell race as a fixture in their club competitions, so it was game on.
The race was won in fine form by Martin Howard (39:04) and Natasha Butterfield (43:04) of Calder Valley. Graeme Brown led the charge for Tod, coming 5th in 39:02, followed closely by Chris Goddard and Dan Taylor in 8th and 11th respectively. Annie Roberts, Rebecca Patrick ad Pauline May all had fantastic races to take the women’s team prize. Kate Mansell and Jane Leonard took the wins in the Women’s Vet 40 & 60 categories respectively and the newest prize on offer, the ‘mid-pack hero award’ was won by Ricky Parrish for taking 8th counter in the team competition.
