Crow Hill Reverse Fell Race, 1 August 2017
Report by Darren Graham
The Tod Harriers Grand Prix is starting to heat up now we are well into the second half of the year. This year’s Crow Hill Race last Tuesday was included in the Grand Prix and 20 Tod runners took part amongst the 78 entrants. Out of the 20 Toddies, a handful were competing for top positioning on the Grand Prix league table. Mel Blackhurst finished the race to gain enough points to put her at the top of the table, withstanding pressure from close rivals such as Paul Brannigan, Chris Goddard and Matt Flanagan. Rebecca Patrick secured 2nd place in the Fell championship, just behind leader Andrew Worster. With 11 races to go before the end of the year, the tables are now showing the main contenders for each prize.
Fellow Toddy, Reg Czudek, organised the Crow Hill Race, a rather challenging 8k route with the ‘slight’ climb of 305 meters, continuing the tradition set up by Ali Mills of donating all proceeds to Ovarian Cancer Charities. Chris Goddard was the 1st Toddy back in 5th place with a time of 34.31. Gemma Ford (pictured) clinched the overall 1st Ladies prize with a time of 39.03 and Rebecca Patrick won the Female Vet 40 prize with a time of 39.26. Full Toddy results……..
