Last weekend saw 2 races in the Todmorden Harriers Grand Prix Championship, the Langdale Horseshoe Fell Race on Saturday and the Oldham Half Marathon on Sunday.
Dan Taylor took the challenge on to complete both of these as he required the Oldham Half to complete the Club Championships. After a good run around Langdale on the Saturday, he was joined at Oldham by Andy Glyde, the 2 of them being the only toddies present. Dan set off steadily on the long climb out of Oldham waiting for his legs to warm up. After 4 miles he sped up on a long descent and disappeared into the mist (not for the first time that weekend). At halfway Dan had taken a steady 48 minutes. After a couple of steady miles along the valley bottom came a large climb to the Golf Club. Feeling good Dan sped up and just kept going. He was climbing strongly on the hills and overtaking people all the way to the finish. He managed to finish in 40th place out of a field of over 300 finishing in 1 hr 33minutes 12 seconds. Andy had a solid run to finish in a respectable 94th place in 1 hr 43 mins and qualifying for this year’s Grand Prix.
