Dentdale 7.9m and 14m road races, 9 Mar

The Dentdale 7.9m road race taking place in the Yorkshire Dales was the feature of the Tod Harriers road championships this weekend. This scenic and hilly course follows a figure of eight format winding up hill and down dale around the Dentdale area with the 189 runners being treated to hot drinks, sandwiches and cake at the finish!
The Todmorden Harriers team of 7 runners that completed the course had some fantastic results with Matt Flanagan joining forces with Chris Dewhirst and Stuart Wolstenholme to seal the men’s team prize. Matt finished in a time of 50.03 for 9th overall, with Chris finishing 19th in 54.15 pipping Stuart Wolstenholme (20th) at the finish line by just 15 seconds.
Race Winner Mark Kearney from Elvet Striders won by almost 2 minutes in 43.18. Rachel Friend of Leeds City AC was first female to finish in 47.22 and 6th overall.

Robin Tuddenham took Dentdale a step further taking part in the 14.2 mile course putting in a fantastic display to finish in 1.37 for 20th overall from the 283-strong field.
