Grand Prix gets off to a blustery start

The first race in the 2023 Grand Prix was held on Sunday 8th January. A combination of an early year half marathon and a pretty cold and wet forecast might have put some people off, but 7 toddies braved the elements to compete in the Central Lancs New Year half marathon. A fairly flat route round quiet country lanes north of Preston. There was a southerly tail wind blowing to help on the first half of the race but then came payback when you turned to head home into it, along with some increasingly heavy rain, leaving a number of pretty cold runners at the end. 330 runners completed the race with both Robin & Mark having great runs to win their respective age categories.

Toddy results were as follows:

33rd Robin Tuddenham 1:26:54 1st Male V50
43rd Pete Rolls 1:31:01
47th Mark Anderton 1:33:17 1st Male V60
69th Tom Saunders 1:37:01
86th Stuart Wolstenholme 1:41:30
95th Chris Pickens 1:43:29
141st Robert Halstead 1:49:46
