Heptonstall Fell Race 2023

Sunday 26th March saw the 2nd fell race and the largest Todmorden turn out so far in the 2023 Grand Prix.

Twenty-one Toddies took part with Graeme Brown first over the line in 12th overall, and 2nd place Chris Kay not too far behind in 15th. There was a battle for 3rd Toddy with Duncan Cannon pipping Andy McFie by just 9 seconds for them to take 44th and 45th overall.

Todmorden were also in the prizes, with Jackie Scarf as first W60, though sadly pipped to Ladies Team prize by Wharfedale Harriers.

Weather on the day was great but the previous weeks’ rain and melting snow meant there were plenty of deep bogs and mud for everyone to enjoy, sapping strength just in time for the infamous last climb from Midgehole back up to the village.  Runners were rewarded with hot drinks, homemade flapjacks from the villagers and Thai curry from The Cross.
