Hoofstones – From Freezing Fog to Glorious Sunshine

The opening fell race of the 2023 Grand Prix was Hoofstones, organised by our very own Todman Dan. Ten Toddies braved the literally freezing fog at the start line to be rewarded with glorious and even warn sun as they climbed up to the trig point. Views were stunning and the runners were able to use Stoodley Pike and the radar station as guides through the rough snow-covered heather navigation section.

Chris Kay was first Toddy over the line in 4th overall, with Ben Blosse 2nd (5th overall) and Dom Leckie 3rd (7th overall). Amazingly there was a draw for first place by Calder Valley Fell Runner’s Shaun Godsman and Alex Whittem.

Thanks goes to the Staff of Life pub which was race HQ, and provided the very welcome chip butties and beer afterwards!
