Mountain marathons and ultras

Todmorden Harriers have a proud record in ultra-distance mountain and trail events and challenges. We have a well-oiled Bob Graham and Joss Naylor challenge support machine, with multiple successes at both for men and women. Toddies have won or been on the podium in classic ultra-distance events like the 2014 Lowe Alpine Mountain Marathon, where club captain Mandy Goth was part of the winning ladies pair; and her husband Phil Hodgson was in the first vet pair and second overall. The Lake District Mountain Trial, the OMM and the Old County Tops are regular fixtures. Toddies women have won the 40 mile overnight High Peak Marathon, Chris Preston was first woman in the Dalesman, and many Tod members have completed the Ultra Tour de Mont Blanc. Recently a member completed a 24 hour track race.

We can offer you a wealth of experience, advice on equipment, preparation, training, nutrition and hydration for long-distance challenges, and the chances are there will be a Toddie or two to carry and navigate or be out on the course to cheer you on. You can use the forum to arrange recces and support and exchange ideas and plans. No matter how masochistic your ultra-distance plans are, there is a good chance there will be a Toddie dumb enough to tag along. Join us and become an honorary member of the Todmorden Mad Badgers led by Phil Hodgson, whose motto is….well better not to know really, that way madness lies.
