RED ROSE CROSS COUNTRY

Tod Harriers Vet Ladies secured an overall win in the Red Rose Cross Country series on Saturday over at Marl Pits, Rossendale. Rebecca Patrick, Pauline May and Mel Blackhurst ensured Todmorden’s win with great results on Saturday. Competing amongst 119 other Ladies, Rebecca Patrick finished 10th overall and also claimed 1st Vet 50. Pauline May was close by, finishing 12th. Mel Blackhurst was 2nd Vet 50 in 20th position. Emma Fielder grabbed the 1st vet 45 in 21st place and Kate Mansell (35th) and Jackie Scarf (37th) both finished high up in the field. The results also concluded with the Ladies open team finishing 2nd overall in the series.
The men also had some great results to secure both 2nd place for the Vets and also 4th place in the Open age team. In a field of 163 runners, Andrew Worster finished 4th, closely followed by Martin Howard in 5th place. Graeme Brown propped up the top ten in 10th position. Also running was Nick Barber (26th); Ian Symington (44th) and Tristan Langlois (65th).
