Shepherds Skyline Fell Race, 10 Nov

The ever-popular Shepherds Skyline Race took place on Saturday. Runners were greeted with good conditions; pretty dry on the course and a cooling breeze on the tops. Tod Harriers runners made up almost 10% of the field, which was slightly down on usual numbers due to a clash with the annual Fell Runners Association Awards and corresponding race in Ilkley, in addition to cross country fixtures.
Making the trip from Ilkley to Todmorden and winning the men’s race was Nathan Edmundson, in a superb time of 43:02. Calder Valley’s Holly Page was the women’s winner and an outstanding 9th overall, in just under 48 minutes.
First Tod Harrier home in an excellent 12th place was Paul Hobbs. He was followed in by birthday-girl Annie Roberts, who came second woman. Phil Montgomery was third Harrier through the finish, in a very good time of 52:59.
It was great to see a wealth of new Todmorden talent coming through, with Ben Holmes, Sam Lund and Theresa Casey having impressive first outings.
