The Hebden 22/15, 20 Jan
Report by Darren Graham

On Saturday, the popular local ‘Hebden’ took place starting in Mytholmroyd. Organised by the Calderdale Group of the LDWA (Long Distance Walker Association), this event has grown in popularity for runners during the 12 years it has been going. Runners/walkers get a choice of 22 miles or 15 miles and the course takes competitors around the tops of Hebden Bridge, visiting places like Pecket Well, Gibson Mill, Blackshaw Head, Erringden Moor and Cragg Vale. A strong team of Toddies took part with Graeme Brown being the 1st Toddy back on the long route in a time of 3.38, 5th place behind winner Ben Mounsey in 3.04. Mel Blackhurst was our 1st lady back in 4.14, second woman behind winner Catherine Holden in 4.09. On the shorter route, Matt Flanagan (pictured, courtesy of sportsunday.co.uk) was 10 mins behind the winner, finishing 4th in 2.25 and Catherine Elvin was 1st Tod lady back in 3.30.
