Turner Landscape Fell Race, 11 Aug
Report by Jo Daniels

The popular and picturesque 10.6m Turner Landscape fell race begins and ends at Turner Hall Farm near Seathwaite in the Lake District. The 3000 ft of ascent did not put off a dozen runners from Todmorden, who made the journey to the Lakeland fells. This year the race was included in the 2018 English Championships – a draw for many of the Todmorden runners and a total of 350 runners on the day. There were fine performances aplenty. Andrew Worster was the first male to finish the race. He took 20th overall in 1.30.17. Graeme Brown was second male for Todmorden; 70th overall in 1.39.21. Annie Roberts was the first female to finish for Todmorden. She was 6th in the female senior age group and 126th overall in 1.48.39. Second female for Todmorden was Melanie Blackhurst. She was 4th in the WV50 age group and 261st overall in 2.16.50. Martin Roberts celebrated his 60th birthday by coming home in 282nd position in 2.23.08. Race winners were Carl Bell in 1:24:12 and Hannah Horsburg in 1:37:04, both of Keswick AC.
