Todmorden Harriers made up 35 of the 65 strong field for the Mandy Goth Triumph over Cancer Brownhouse Reservoir trail race near Rochdale. Mandy is a member of Todmorden Harriers and the race was named in honour of Mandy by Andems Runners who organise many fund raising races every year.
The ladies race was a tight knit affair with the 1st 3 places taken by Tod Harriers. 31 seconds separated Jane Mitchell, Kath Brierley and Vicky Edwards with Jane just managing to take and maintain the lead on the final descent.
The men’s race saw a group of 6 runners that included Tod’s Richard Butterwick, Chris Goddard and Dave Garner break away on the initial climb and maintain that lead on the first of 2 laps of the reservoir. On the second lap Tod’s Paul Brannigan caught the group and drew level with leader Butterwick before opening a winning lead just before the final descent.
