Junior Harriers receive their rewards…

Tod Harriers Junior Award Presentation

Junior members of Todmorden Harriers running club celebrated completion of their inaugural Grand Prix last week, with 17 of them receiving certificates and medals for their achievements. The Grand Prix was set up last year to help encourage junior members to participate in local races (both fell and road) and to make them feel more a part of the running club and local athletics community. This year was billed as a ‘mini’ Grand Prix with three races selected, all based in Todmorden (Shepherds Skyline in November, Flower Scar in February, and The Red Hot Toddy in March). Juniors were also given the option of adding a ‘wildcard’ race as a qualifier where they were unable to attend one of the selected events. All those who competed in a club vest were given awards for participation, ensuring that all running abilities were recognised. Of the 17 qualifiers, 9 received the top ‘gold’ award for completing all 3 events, with 5 receiving ‘silver’ and 3 receiving ‘bronze’. Due to the success and excitement created by the mini Grand Prix this year, coaches will be looking to expand it for 2018/19. If you have a child who may be interested in joining Todmorden Harriers then further information and contact details are available on the ‘Juniors’ page of the Todmorden Harriers website.
